I have just come back from the movie “In Bruges” starring Colin Farrell as Ray and Brenden Gleeson as Ken. The movie was so overwhelming that i had to note this experience down. I dont remember when was the last time a celluloid this sublime blew me away.Honestly speaking, the movie may or may not be very good and perhaps the unususal experience of the surrender of my indefatigability towards movies is a fleeting one as well. For the purpose that something stays of this moment, i write now.
The story of the movie is grim wherein three hitmen try to sort out their own right vs wrong and respectfully act according to their honour. The movie is in Bruges, Belgium where Harry has sent his two hitmen Ray and Ken to spend a good time so that Ken kills Ray because during his first job Ray killed a small boy by mistake. Harry, who is a man of honour wants Ray dead. Ray has become suicidal because that is the only way he sees to atone his sins.Ken knowing all this wants Ray to have another shot at life because he sees hope for him.
The story line is grim but is underscored by some seriously good humour with allusions to the John lennon’s murder, racist remarks, midget Vs dwarf mentality and great direction and superfluous number of ”fuck”s for the rhetoric. This one definitely found a way into my all time favourite list.
